Week 1 - the misticle bamboo forest by Scarlett

I entered the Arashiyama bamboo park to see a place that is full of carvings and tall wavy branches hanging from the bamboo. I followed the lit up path that lead to a big open field with flowers shaped as birds and hedges shaped as pandas. I was got so caught up in the beauty of this place I ventured off into the bamboo forest that surrounded it. I didn't realise where I was going until I almost walked into a tall wavy bamboo tube the length of a tall giraffe then I ventured on to find a magical place that had some sort of glittery dust with a few fireflies  buzzing around me. I walked forward as I was mesmerised by the glittery scene. I came across a waterfall. I slowly bent over and stuck one finger in. It felt like I had just entered a dream but in real life…..

Week 1 - Fireflies by Charlotte

As I approach the top step leading to the forest I notice a firefly, golden and buzzing around my head.  As I brush it away I notice more and more swarming around me, thousands all at once. I move forward and as I do they form a path for me to follow that leads straight to a little white house just west of the village. It’s sitting on the edge of a river bank where hundreds of sparkling blue stones lay, all scattered around the bend of the river. It almost felt like a strange magic had taken over me.

Week 1 - Unidentified Flying Object by Danny

Boom, shots ricochet off of the buildings next to the bamboo forest. “Run” yells someone behind me, everyone scatters for cover, I run into the forest where autumn leaves paint the ground yellow and red.

I have been running for about twenty minutes and I’m deep in the woods, suddenly the leaves are illuminated by a strange light from above, they start rising of of the ground and slowly start spinning round in circles like a mini tornado. I look up towards the sky and see a large circular object hovering about twenty meters above my head. Is it a UFO?

Week 1 - Zoo by Maclaren

As I opened my eye's I saw a big bamboo forest with magical dust and leaves I stood up and looked around and I saw lots of panda eating the bamboo.   I didn't realise that there was four enormous windows with people looking straight at me saying “what's that guy doing I there”, then I realised I was in an enclosure in a zoo people were calling for security and zoo keeper's.  It took a while for them to arrive and get me out but after five minutes I was out but still how did I get there.

Week 1 - forest in my garden by Sam Ctr

Yellow dust brushed past while I was on my porch eating croissants. I noticed it floating into a beautiful bamboo forest at the end of my garden that hadn’t been there last night.

I had to explore. I stepped in and counted thirteen pandas having breakfast too.  I wasn’t afraid of them but they noticed me and ran.

I tried to follow but they moved fast!  I ran for hours but lost them. I saw light as the bamboo thinned and suddenly was standing in front of my neighbour Mrs Dingle, wearing only my boxers!

I turned to look back at the forest.  All I saw was my garden gate.

Week 1 - The hunted woods by Jasmine

I was skipping through the woods across the road from our house. My mum always says “don't go in those woods they are haunted But she won’t know so it doesn't matter. Anyway I was skipping through the woods and everything was perfect but all of a sudden a whole lot of things that looked like glow worms came out of trees and the ground and they started swirling around me.

I was scared nervous and excited all at the same time. But I knew that people had gone missing in these woods and that most people think they are haunted . And I knew I had to get out of here right now.

One dark and gloomy night Amber and I were walking down the streets to go shopping. When  all of a sudden we heard a noise, it sounded like someone screaming so we went to check it out. The noise took us to a forest full of people. They were having a party so we thought that's what the sound must be so we carried on walking. As David walks into the bamboo forest, he thinks to himself ‘I wonder why these people gone missing.’

Bamboo branches brush him across the face.

Then David finds floating yellow petals, so he decides to follow them.

He find a little girl that seems to be lost so she helps him find the missing people.

Alone the journey they play Pokemon Go.

They find a pikachu and a hypno.

They find the missing people but then a real life hypno comes alone and hypnotises and forget everything.

I was just relaxing against a tree when my tummy started rumbling. At that moment I decided to go on a quest for bamboo. Since pandas are quite slow by the time I saw a glimpse of some, it was dark. I stumbled towards it and was about to take a big bite when glowing leaves surrounded me. I tried to touch one but it burnt my finger. Since I came for the food I grabbed some bamboo and headed for an exit but the leaves followed me. What is so special about the bamboo? Will I ever get out? TO BE CONTINUED...

“No I'm not what are you talking about, Pokemon go is like the best thing ever.”

Tom had been playing Pokemon go to much that he had started wandering out of the house and seeing things but he didn’t want to believe that. Today he had wandered off into a forest he didn’t know where he was going.

“Yellow dust is that like chopped up pikachus that have fallen from the pokemon gods?”  He started to walk more and more into the forest. Once he had finished his wonder he became lost and decided to build a house then died!

Once apon a time, I flewed a plane for about 4 hours to London. After we landed we went in a bus and i said can we go to that awesome forest in London and then we had a look and we saw all the leaves and all the trees and the bush. What did I do there was i had a look and looked at some branches and a river and some banks There was some dangerous areas around there like the river that you fall in straight like two metres fall into the river.Also in danger for fun is there can be some wolfs, some lions and tigers and quite a few birds but all the tigers and lions catch the birds which is not good. But also we like hanged around the forest... for two hours looking around and then after we went for lunch at a restaurant near BigBen

                                                                                                                                                  My dad’s cold hard fist slammed into me as if he had been on steroids. I collapsed, frightened of he’d do next. But he pointed upstairs and told me “GO UP TO YOUR ROOM AND NEVER ARGUE WITH ME AGAIN! I DIDN’T KILL YOUR MUM SHE SHOT HERSELF!” but i knew he was lying. HE killed her, he kicked her down the stairs, i saw it happen. I left the room, Then suddenly I fell straight through the stairs into the sky. I landed in a gloomy forest surrounded by glowing circles that started to form into a figure. It was mum. I walked towards her, she felt calming now, i can be with her again.

One day me (Sam) and Cruise went to the park. We found a cool hut that someone built so we played in it for a couple of hours. Cruise found a trapdoor so we both went down it. When we got down we saw a massive mythical forest that had glowing leaves falling from the trees we were scared so we left. The next day we thought we should go back with konany so we did. When we got there we went Down the trapdoor and looked around. We saw glowing lights from a distance so we went to it. We saw a massive village up in the trees so we climbed up and stayed there for the rest of our life.

The silence was broken with the thumping of my heart beat. I slowly open my eyes, feeling a cold breeze stroke my body. My vision appears illusionary, the world surrounding me looking artificial. My body aches as I begin to stand up, but I half wobble, my legs had fallen asleep. My eyes wonder around this unfamiliar space, it looks like a bamboo forest. Suddenly a light flew past me, my head turned in curiosity. I ran after it, my body had a mind of its own, the light stopped. It was waiting, just as it had stopped, millions of firefiles appear right before me.

I walked towards the forest my thoughts in a constant battle. I tried to block out all the voices but couldn’t help but listen. What if someone sees you? Is this really a good idea? No one will miss you. All these different voices swirled around in my head making me dizzy and my breathing unsteady. In frustration I sprinted into the forest, tears rolling down my face.  

I don’t know how long I’d been running but when I stopped my legs gave way and I fell to the ground. I turned over onto my back and tried to make out where I was, but nothing was clear. I could only see the faint shapes of the bamboo stalks. As the world began to fade into darkness  I saw small yellow lights. They danced around me and in that moment I was finally happy.

What is this place? I wondered as I walked through a bamboo forest.  It was just yesterday that I ran away from the horrible orphanage.  When I ran away I ran and ran until I came to a little cave that I took shelter in. I explored, and I found an opening that led me to this forest. Suddenly, just as it the sun started to set, a rustling sound started coming from the ground, and then golden flakes started to rise up from the ground. I did not know if this was a dangerous forest but no one was going to make me come out. Especially not to go back to the orphanage.

I stepped out onto my verandah of my house and felt the soft summer breeze blowing on my bare shoulders.

I had just had breakfast and my day had started.

I lived in a cove called jellyfish cove.

I loved it there it was sunny and the air is so fresh and crisp in the morning and in the afternoon it gets a bit cooler but it’s still pretty warm

Every morning I would get up put some wood on the outside fire and the go out and help my dad with the crops.

Because where we lived was in the middle of nowhere we had to grow are own crops.

But altogether it was a pretty good life and I love it.

Week 10 -The Weekend of the Edinburgh Tattoo by Matthew

It was 10.30 in the morning, I had just arrived in Picton, we were about to get on the ferry to go up to Wellington because today was the day that the Edinburgh Tattoo was happening. I got on the ferry and spotted several arcades, restaurants, huge decks, and lounges full of comfy couches and chairs. 3 hours later we were in Wellington so we got the bus, unpacked our bags, went out and had pancakes. And now it was time for the tattoo, it started with lots of marching bands and trumpets, it got to the end and 5 men got their snare drums and started playing while having a stick fight.

It all happened quite suddenly. I was walking down the road when hear a loud ‘Vroooom!’ followed by a gust of air, and then another ‘Vrooooom’. It was a speeding car, and the police were hot in pursuit. I watched them disappear off into the distant, an orange car zooming round a bend closely followed by a police car, glinting like a star under the sun. Then I hear a large ‘Boom!’, and I run around the corner too see what happened, although I had already guessed. I spun round the corner to see the orange car up in flames.

Week 10 - Dave by Danny

“How much for the orange truffles?” Asked one of Dave's customers for his gourmet chocolate company. Dave had started when he was just eighteen selling homemade chocolates, he was now twenty five and still enjoying it. He had made almost a million dollars in the past two years and he wanted to give back, so he donated two hundred thousand dollars a year in food to have healthy packed lunches for the children whose family couldn’t afford it. He was also working on a program for breakfast for the same types of school kids. “Eight dollars” he replied, “and a quarter of that goes towards food for people who can’t afford it“.

And there are casils there so yer I am looking ford to it.

Week 10 - The trip by Caleb

Man this week has just started and a lot is going on. Last week I had rep rugby practise and my team practise for 5 days. I also had indoor cricket and school sport.This week is pretty much the same but I need to get ready for my 1 week tournament for rep rugby in greymouth.

So far my favourite thing I have done this year is probably making the under 52 rep team because, I had never made a rep team and the under 52s is one of the biggest ones. But there's more traveling, in the next 2 weeks because I'm going to Hawaii. My parents have been working their hardest and I have hardly got to see them.

I wake up and look around to see dinosaurs, it gave me a bit of a fright at first but once I got used to it I felt an itch on my arm, I looked down to itch it and there was a metal insert in my  arm !! Then out of nowhere it pulled me into it and found out that the insert was an inventory, found out I had nothing on me apart from a pair of boxers. So there I stood in the middle of the world with T-Rexes, Pteranodons and Dodo’s around me I thourt what can I do.

Hanna rubbed her tired eyes as she groggily made her way out of bed. Slowly she made her way to the white dresser on the other side of the room. She stared at herself in the mirror, her lips were cracked and her cheeks stained with tears. She sighed and picked her hairbrush up off her dresser and slowly brushed her thinning ash brown hair.

She placed the hairbrush back down on the dresser and continued to look at herself in the mirror. She pulled at the “fat” around her thighs and stomach sighing as she did so. Though Hanna had a gaunt figure she still thought of herself as fat.

She stared in disbelief silently crying “why am I so fat?”

Week 10 - Holidays by Brandon

For this holiday I am going to bridge valley for a week. Bridge valley is a good place to learn new thing to make new friends and to just have a good time if you are looking to get away from the house for a few days

Then I have 2 day to repack to go to auckland to see my dad. My dad has a flash 5 bedroom house and he does a steel works job And we go to see the family.

Then i have 2 days to go out with friends and get ready for school for the new term.

Week 10 - Shopping with friends! by Amber N

It was a warm and sunny Autom afternoon.Me and Charlotte jumped out of her Dads car and ran  into the Ritchmond mall to find our friends. When we got there all of our friends were already there cause we were 12 minutes late. We all decided to go to Kmart first even though Kmart isn't in the mall. After spending about 50 minutes at Kmart we didn't buy much but we did buy lollies, bags, white tops and Scarlette brought some weird smelling felt pens. It was way past lunch time so we went and got Mcdonalds. After that we just looked around some shops and bought stuff for the disco because we were all going to dress up the same.It was really fun and we took loads of photos.

Week 10 - The big day of travelling by Scarlett

We drove along the bumpy road to the Nelson airport ready to take off to Wellington.  After a long time of waiting We boaded the tiny Jetstar aircraft and we were off. The plane was swaying in the slight turbulence as we left the region but settled down quite quickly after. The short trip was finally over and we were in busy Wellington. It was at least three and a half hours for us to get to the Kapiti Coast but we got out of the busy traffic in the end after a short break for dinner at Wendy's. Later once we had finished traveling we went straight to bed as is was quite late and we were all very tired from a long day of traveling.

Week 10 - Wanaka by Lucy

Last year I went to Wanaka with my family. It was in the middle of winter and it was freezing. The reason we went to wanaka is because we wanted to go skiing. I was nervous to go skiing, because it was the first time in two years since I skied. We went to Cardrona Ski Park. Once we got up to the top of the mountain. I was nervous but excited. I went to go get my skis on and I was shaking. Mum gave me my card to put in my pocket. I shuffled up to the ski lane. It took me a while to get use to skiing. But after that I was fine. I can’t wait to go skiing next year.

Sam in a Lambo, George in a land rover, Eli in a corvette and me rolling in the Audi R8. The mini battery powered cars have roofs and everything only for like $300 each.

“Drag race?” asks George

“You know you're in a land rover and we are all in supercars right”

Automatically George fails at the start but Eli, Sam and I race off. Eli starts to fall behind but Sam and I are still neck and neck.As we spot the finish line a dog pounces out at us and flips us!!

Week 10 - Looking forward to next year! by Michaela

Next year I am looking forward to going to college! I will see all my friends from the years before and meet new people. As usual I will be nervous but sadly I will be away from some of my friends and I will really miss them. I am also looking forward to... Well I don’t know yet but I’m sure next year will be great! I’m also looking forward to studying Japanese as a subject because I really want to go to Japan with my friends and family.

Once upon a time the was a spooky Little boat and every body new not to go on the spooky little  boat because it was possessed  and the people told everyone story's of how if people went on the little boat would take the people to a little boat shed and cache so that you will think that the boat was nice but it was da da da feeding you up so you could not swim away when it tried to eat you so that's why you don't trust boats.

Week 10 - RWC final by Luke

10:30am, Aviva Stadium, Dublin

My name is Caleb Milner-Skudder.  I am in the All Blacks.  My father, Nehe Milner-Skudder, was in the ABs in 2015 and 2019 RWC.  The final is Wallabies vs All Blacks.  Right now we are just finishing our warm-ups for the final.  20 minutes later we were lining up ready to go onto the pitch.  I am number 14, the winger.  Soon Zach McCaw was leading us onto the pitch.  After we sung our national anthem, We started our haka.  I don’t know if they were intimidated because they did not show it.  After a few minutes we were ready to start.  As soon as we started the Wallabies picked up the ball and then they scored and converted   7-0.  Then we scored and converted.  7-7.  The game carried on like this until the 65th minute.  The score was 42-44 to us.  They suddenly broke our line and scored a try.  49-44. From then on it was like running into a brick wall for us. In the 78th minute Ryan Blackwell kicked a penalty. 49-47.  Then the siren went, they kicked off just before.  Suddenly we broke their line. But we got tackled by their full back. After 2 minutes of run and smash. Ryan Blackwell set himself up for a drop goal.  It hit the post and rebounded somehow we got it back and Ryan tried it again.  It hit the post again, But this time it went over after hitting the post.  49-50, To us. We won it for a record 4th time.

Week 10 - Fortune Cookie by Amber T

Today was my aunt’s birthday and we were going to a new Chinese restaurant to celebrate. We each got fortune cookies. Mine read, “Your life's in danger. You must leave this city immediately and never return. If not out of here by midnight it will be too late…” I was so shocked I just ran out of the restaurant. I sprinted down the road as my life was in danger. I had been running for ages so I checked the time on my phone… it was 11:59! Something hit my head and before I could do anything I was on the ground unconscious.

Mitsy is it a boy or a girl I siad  girl anuty said can I let her out sure she said but watch out she jumps I dont mind her jumping on me is she be able to walk yes.can I take her for a walk of course watch for other dogs some are tame andsome are wild I will just yell at them okay see ya later. it took half and hour to get to the park and half hour to get home and I found out that it was night time they served dinner wow I got home at 7:00 at night I just arrived before tea mum told me that we were staying the night. After dinner mum said bedtime to me can I bring mitsy to bed too okay she may stay she might not. all right good night. in the middle of the night anuty came in to my room and said wake up do you want to take mitsy for another walk okay a bit too early to walk but fine see ya later on I might come back at 12:00 in the afternoon

Week 10 - Australia by Sam Cur

This year I'm going to Australia. We first take a plane to Auckland and then take a plane from there. We land at Gold Coast and Stay there for seven days. Then we go down to Caloundra and stay there for seven days. The hotel we stay at has a view of the sea a gaming room, pool and sauna. The place we stay at in Caloundra looks like a Mexican house with a pool. The thing I'm looking forward to doing is to go to sea world and have fun at the beach.
